2024 Opioid Summit
For this conference I got to travel to Boise, which was an awesome experience. Boise is a beautiful city and the conference center was utterly perfect!
According to the website, “The Region 10 Opioid Summit serves as an educational and networking platform in the Pacific Northwest, encompassing Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Its primary focus lies in workforce development initiatives aimed at individuals providing prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery services related to opioid use disorders. This comprehensive summit offers valuable insights and resources for professionals across the field, addressing their diverse needs and interests.”
Program Design
For the program this year I wanted to challenge myself and make something different while still looking professional and readable. The client gave me the theme of this years conference “Breaking Barriers Saving Lives”, which was pretty abstract. However, I came up with two designs I felt fit the theme and looked cool. I then made sketches on my iPad so the client could get an idea of what the final draft would look like. They ended up choosing the one with the colorful lines. Colorful lines that ended up being a total pain to make haha!
I continued the visual theme inside the program while trying to keep it readable, which was a bit of a challenge as there was so much going on, but in the end I succeeded and there were no complaints about readability! I was also in charge of layout and editing the descriptions submitted by presenters.
Venue Items
This year I had to print the name badges and so I couldn’t be super fancy with them unfortunately. As usual, I made sure all the text was as large as possible in order to prevent awkward squinting amongst conference attendees. I also got to design a magnet for this year’s conference and I went with the shape of Idaho while also using the visual elements of the program. The text is a bit small for my taste, but its what the client wanted. I utilized elements from the program in the signage as well as certificates to keep everything consistent.
